Welcome to our website...

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School is a Catholic, Co-educational Primary School offering Prep – Year 6. It is situated at Springsure, in the Central Highlands region of Queensland. Our aim is to provide a stimulating and supportive environment in which our children gain an enthusiasm for learning in order to achieve their full potential. We are a vibrant and welcoming community founded on the values of the Gospel.

Our teachers and staff are highly-trained professionals who respect children and who are always approachable. We believe in a parental partnership, with the school working closely with the family to achieve the very best all-round education for each and every child.

Community News

What a way to start the year off with an article published in the CQ News. In the article, which can be found here, OLSH was the top ranked primary school within the whole of the Central Highlands region. This is a massive achievement and wouldn’t have been possible without the enormous dedication of the staff and wonderful efforts from the students. Not only that, it is also a combination of our amazing partnership with parents and wider community. It is a brilliant way to start the year with a spring in our step, but we’re not going to rest on our laurels. We’re going to keep working hard in the pursuit of excellence and maintain high standards.

We all know that children receive the best education when parents and teachers work as a team. Parents’ enthusiasm, support and involvement are integral to the success of our school, as are the skills, dedication and professionalism of teachers. Together, staff and parents can provide educational excellence for every student, so that they can achieve their personal best. Together, we can support one another to provide a friendly academic environment and, when appropriate, celebrate our achievements.

We hope that throughout the year, our school will be a place where staff, students and families have opportunities to experience many enjoyable activities as we continue to uphold the wonderful reputation of the school. For this sentiment to continue throughout the year, it will require our collective wisdom, generosity and willingness to do the best we can to be at the forefront of all our efforts.

With many great plans for the year, it will only be possible with the contribution of our wonderful parent community. The best way to do this is through our dedicated P&F committee. The P&F AGM will be held this coming Wednesday at 5pm and I would dearly love to see as many parents as possible. The P&F is an integral part of providing our students with the best possible education.

May this new school year, see staff and parents in partnership in our collective role of ensuring we provide the best possible educational environment for all the students who attend this wonderful school.

Once again, thank you for the wonderful start to the year. I look forward to the many fabulous events and experiences that will take place throughout 2019. May God bless us on our adventures ahead.

Parent Information Evening 15th February
An important way of finding out what your child is doing at school, in particular the classroom, is by attending our Parent Information Night on Friday 15th February. Your child’s teacher will facilitate a concise presentation which will cover various topics including, curriculum content, homework and behavioural expectations. It is also a great opportunity to get to personally meet your child’s teacher and gain an understanding of their preferred method of communication.

Each teacher will present three sessions of 15 minutes whereby parents can choose which session they would like to attend. This will allow parents with multiple students at school to attend a presentation by each child’s teacher.

  • 5:30pm: Principals Address and Welcome;
  • Session 1: 6:00pm
  • Session 2: 6:20pm
  • Session 3: 6:40pm

We will be providing a sausage sizzle, kicking off at 6:30pm to ensure all families are catered for during and after the information sessions.  Please BYO Drinks. These nights are always very worthwhile and provide a wonderful opportunity for the school community to come together at the beginning of a new school year.
