About St Anthony’s - Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care is a network of care that pervades every facet of the school curriculum and culture. (Choosing Life Pastoral Care for School Communities, Kevin Treston, 1997)

Pastoral Care is:

  • The expression of the members of the school community (students, staff, parents) in caring for one another
  • The integration of the academic, social, religious dimensions of a school’s curriculum so that an atmosphere of care pervades the whole culture of the school
  • Directing the energies of the school towards a holistic development of each person in the school community
  • Seeking to fulfill the great yearning of Jesus, I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly (Jn 10:10)

Good pastoral care is exemplified by:

  • Quality teaching and learning
  • Good discipline
  • High expectations of student performance
  • Teachers caring for students as unique individuals
